"Saving trees simply means not felling
them. That is the point: if we learn to use and re-use what Mother
Nature has given us (or that we have in some cases stolen from Nature)
there would no longer be need to ill-treat Her. To recycle means to
love nature, recycling wood means saving trees."
"Man can do much to safeguard the environment. Technology
can be destructive: like the type of technology adopted
by Pacific Lumber that uses chain saws more than two metres
long to cut down trees. It then collects the tree trunks
using enormous helicopters that wreck entire hillsides with
their blades, or uses them to squirt liquid fire, napalm,
onto the areas that have just been cleared so that from
above the deforestation is not evident. But luckily there
is another side to the coin: technology can be used with
respect for people and things. By re-using resources, for
example. In Mantua in Italy there is the Ecological Panel
Consortium that groups together numerous companies that
use recycled wood only to manufacture furniture. An enterprise
that alone saves 8,000 trees every day. Nearly 3 million
trees each year."
